Each month we profile a fun project and the story and design challenges behind it.
My wife and I were married in Hawaii and nearly a year later we returned to Hawaii and visited some of our favorite art galleries. We had visited these galleries quite a few times over the years with the temptation to purchase some of Victor Bregeda's pieces but always went home empty handed.
This trip in particular wasn't our ordinary Hawaii vacation as it was our honeymoon/anniversary. Considering that we did not have any art to hang in our home and had loved viewing this painting every time we visited Hawaii, we decided to finally purchase it. This piece will always take us back to Lahaina where we first discovered this artist and will always remind us of the fond memories we have of the natural beauty in our world, especially in places like Hawaii.
Fine art can become not-so-fine art if it is not presented well. We wanted to be sure the framing of the art work was not only the best quality, but also pulled in the viewer. I walked into the Magnolia Museum Quality Framing shop just before closing-time on a Thursday. Expecting to be rushed I was pleasantly surprised by the time and care Kansas took to ensure I walked away feeling good about my frame choice.
He took his time to explain all the choices, how they are different, what they do to the painting's value, how they are framed, the importance of choosing the right frame and colors for the painting, how to choose the right frame and colors, etc. I walked out feeling more educated on art than I did when I entered the shop. It was a truly relaxing and educational experience and I feel confident that I purchased the highest quality framing.
I could have stayed in that shop for hours just chatting about art. His enthusiasm left me feeling more in love with the piece than when I had entered the shop.
